What is "chiakuro"?
Where does it come from?
If you're on this page, I'm sure you have this same question that I've seen uttered a thousand times.
You don't have to worry anymore, because I am here to explain the basis for you.
The origin

The base for Chiaki/Kuro as a ship was first established in the story "Tough guy", a gacha that released 11/15/2015.
In this story, the 13th gacha story to ever be released, it's established that Chiaki and Kuro are long-time friends, and sets up the fact that they were pivotal to each other's development and growth over their time in Yumenosaki.

Chiaki has Kuro to thank for development, and Kuro reminisces at how Chiaki used to be meek and timid.
I remind you that this story came out almost four and a half years before
Meteor Impact (3/31/2019)
"Wow, that was a long time ago!" you may remark. And it was. Around the time of the game's conception, whether you believe it or not, Chiaki/Kuro was one of the leading Chiaki ships in terms of popularity and prevalence.
So what happened?
For reasons unclear, Chiaki and Kuro's friendship went to the back-burner right away. Any reference to their friendship was few and far between, especially given most people don't assume they would get along when looking at their outward appearances/personalities.
Apart from a short, off-screen interaction in Supernova, Chiaki and Kuro went literal years without any content at all to imply they were more than acquaintances. This wasn't helped by the fact that they were in events together during that time without any major interaction, or the dismissive and masculine way they tend to speak of others.

why didn't we get to see him "talk it out with Morisawa a bit".
After literal years of events where Chiaki and Kuro reference each other without actually speaking on screen...

Kuro alluding to being friends with Chiaki in Crossroad, another story where they do not actually talk on-screen.

Chiaki and Tetora unabashedly praise Kuro as usual in Sweet Halloween
Gang released on 4/14/2018.

Gang is my personal favorite chiakuro story, and definitely the one I consider the most important when it comes to understanding them.
Gang displays all the most tender and unique parts of their relationship. Even though they aren't the main focus of the gacha, it shows how they speak to each other in ways they don't speak to anyone else
